Did you know you can hear ? Get your month started right with an in-depth joy journey.

CARD OF THE WEEK: [inlinetweet prefix=”CARD OF THE WEEK” tweeter=”@tarotscopes” suffix=”…more #tarot”]Give honor to those who deserve it. Rise up against those [/inlinetweet]who don’t. Judgment is the card of the week. This is a call to examine who and what we work for. Is it an honorable thing we do or is it dishonorable? A big question must be answered this week. This card also calls us to transcend to the next level–to take it one step beyond what we think we can accomplish. That one step will help us answer the bigger question of honor. JUDGMENT

AQUARIUS [inlinetweet prefix=”AQUARIUS” tweeter=”@tarotscopes” suffix=”…more #tarot”]Boom. There should have been a boom. Or so says Marvin [/inlinetweet]the Martian. Something needs to come down in your world, Water-Bearers. Feels like you are going to have to work at undoing a thought process that isn’t serving you. Do you still believe you aren’t enough? Kick that attitude to the curb. Once you take down that tower of self-doubt, you will soar. But it won’t be easy. You will have to fight it with everything you’ve got but you can win this battle. Boom. TOWER

PISCES [inlinetweet prefix=”PISCES” tweeter=”@tarotscopes” suffix=”…more #tarot”]Be cautious in your thinking. With all the retrograde energy going on, [/inlinetweet]it’s easy to lose your focus. When you find yourself stabbing yourself in your own foot, pull your attention back to what must be done. I highly recommend writing out a to-do list to help you through this week. Going to be scattered so rein it in, fishy. SEVEN OF SWORDS

ARIES [inlinetweet prefix=”ARIES” tweeter=”@tarotscopes” suffix=”…more #tarot”]YAY! Expect that out-of-balance feeling to dissipate just enough [/inlinetweet]to give you some breathing room. There may be a decision that comes up this week around work vs. play. As long as you allow yourself to do both, it will be good. Choosing one over the other may make you feel split. Work on playing and play at work. That will see you through this week. TWO OF PENTACLES

TAURUS [inlinetweet prefix=”TAURUS” tweeter=”@tarotscopes” suffix=”…more #tarot”]Well honey, if you continually lay down, they WILL walk all over you[/inlinetweet]. Because you keep letting them AND because you think it’s what you deserve. Knock that off right now, you hear me? There is a difference between being a victim and being a survivor. You bulls are best at surviving. Dump that victim mentality at the door, please and thank you. It’s really quite unattractive. TEN OF SWORDS

Gorgon Tarot Temperance
Gorgon Tarot, Schiffer

GEMINI [inlinetweet prefix=”GEMINI” tweeter=”@tarotscopes” suffix=”…more #tarot”]Remember that what you put out is what you get back. Don’t fool yourself [/inlinetweet], sweeties. Playing false will bite you in the ass. Stick the truth and nothing but the truth if you want to come clean in a current sticky situation. Best to just own up to any mistakes. And for goodness sakes, don’t let anyone hide behind you. They need to be brought to the light. You aren’t doing anyone any favors. JUSTICE

CANCER [inlinetweet prefix=”CANCER” tweeter=”@tarotscopes” suffix=”…more #tarot”]Sweet! It’s a week for you to find balance again. Things may have been a bit [/inlinetweet]of kilter. Not to worry. Moderation will win the day. Remember that you can change your energy only. Theirs is theirs. I want you to take some time each day to breathe. Just nothing else but focusing on your own breath. Letting go of what isn’t yours will help you move forward. TEMPERANCE

LEO [inlinetweet prefix=”LEO” tweeter=”@Tarotscopes” suffix=”..more #tarot”]Oh honey, are you feeling a bit out of sorts? I’ve got good news [/inlinetweet]for you. This isn’t the time to dwell on past hurts. There’s a time limit on how much angst you can have over mistakes made. Time’s up. Turn back to those that DO have something to offer you. Please release the hold your past still has on you. You are going to waste the gifts they are trying to give because you are so tied to the past. FIVE OF CUPS

Gorgon Tarot Queen of Cups
Gorgon Tarot, Schiffer

VIRGO [inlinetweet prefix=”VIRGO” tweeter=”@tarotscopes” suffix=”…more #tarot”]Time to do a little navel-gazing, darlings. Finally some time to yourself to [/inlinetweet]start doing some internal housecleaning. Check your attitude at the door. No one really loves decluttering but I promise you that the end result will be worth the sacrifice. Please view things from a different perspective. How much of that mental crap do you really need to hang on to? HANGED ONE

LIBRA [inlinetweet prefix=”LIBRA” tweeter=”@tarotscopes” suffix=”…more #tarot”]Strong emotions shouldn’t scare you. They are just life’s [/inlinetweet]way of getting your attention. Trust your gut this week, please. And for goodness sake, lead with compassion. No one likes a bitter Bertie, Betty. This week can find you on the wahmbulance if you aren’t careful. Before you open your mouth, double check your intention. Truth is good, but this week? Beauty is better. QUEEN OF CUPS

SCORPIO [inlinetweet prefix=”SCORPIO” tweeter=”@tarotscopes” suffix=”…more #tarot”]Create. That’s all. Just create. Making the world more beautiful [/inlinetweet]is your geas this week. Paint something. Write something. Sing something. Cook something. Do something that adds to the WOW of someone’s every day joy. You are on tap to be joy ambassadors this week. Are you ready? 3, 2, 1 SMILE. You need to be on a roll so others have someone to follow. Yep, TAG! You’re it. EMPRESS

SAGITTARIUS [inlinetweet prefix=”SAGITTARIUS” tweeter=”@tarotscopes” suffix=”…more #tarot”]Into every life, a little sunshine creeps. Looks like love may come from an [/inlinetweet]unexpected source. Make sure you are out there with your face turned up to catch the rays. Someone is looking at you with a hopeful heart but are you looking back? What amazing times you can have if you just reach out a hand to say, “Hi, I see you there.” Recognize your place in the partnerships you are already in. TWO OF CUPS

CAPRICORN [inlinetweet prefix=”CAPRICORN” tweeter=”@tarotscopes” suffix=”… more #tarot”]Stability is guaranteed this week if you learn to celebrate the [/inlinetweet]smallest things. Even successfully peeling an egg is a reason to smile. There could be a life event that you need to significantly appreciate. This really needs to be a whole-hearted YEE HAW. Someone near you may not be feeling appreciated. I know, you’ve been busy. Still, it’s time to show those in your immediate world how important they are to you. FOUR OF WANDS

The Cook's Tarot, Six of Swords
The Cook’s Tarot

Welcome to this week’s Tarotscopes. My goal is to help you find your joy and hang on to it. You can transform your existence by bringing joy back in on a regular basis. I’m here to be your joy guide. I want to know what’s your biggest stumbling block on your path to joy? Tell me in the comments.

Tired of being sad? Done with all the negativity in this world? Let’s work together to bring you back to the joy path. No time like the present to get started on your own joy seeker’s life. I’m ready to help. What’s holding you back? This week I am reading with The Cook’s Tarot (Schiffer) by Judith Mackay Stirt.

So I’m indulging myself right now by rereading the . Instead of reading them in the order she wrote them (her recommendation), I’m reading them in chronological order. Right now I’m reading Dragonsdawn. Have you read this series? I’m anxiously waiting to hear about the movie that just got optioned.

CARD OF THE WEEK: SIX OF SWORDS [inlinetweet prefix=”CARD OF THE WEEK” tweeter=”@tarotscopes” suffix=”…more #tarot”]Time to leave that energy behind. You know, the [/inlinetweet]energy that’s been causing your mind to twist in on itself? Let’s walk away from all of our self-sabotaging ideas. I challenge you to write down your top five worries. Read them out loud. Then say NO to each of them in a loud, firm voice. No to failure. No to rejection. Just no. Then step away from your anxiety and towards joy. Seek joy, y’all.

AQUARIUS PAGE OF WANDS [inlinetweet prefix=”AQUARIUS” tweeter=”@tarotscopes” suffix=”…more #tarot”]What do you want to stir up? What ideas are in your [/inlinetweet]cauldron of change? Time to feed the fires of creation by mixing things up a bit. Current project not feeding you? It’s okay to tend another fire for a bit. I give you permission to engage your energy in a different way this week. Painter? Try writing a poem. Poet? Try baking bread. Baker? Try painting a picture. Let yourself have some fun this week. Youthful energy for the win!

The Cook's Tarot, Five of Pentacles
The Cook’s Tarot

PISCES FIVE OF PENTACLES [inlinetweet prefix=”PISCES” tweeter=”@tarotscopes” suffix=”…more #tarot”] There are times when you want something SO HARD but[/inlinetweet] this may not be the time to indulge in that if it is a huge financial risk. Understand that this isn’t the “one time only” offer they are making it sound like. There will be more where this came from. Now is not your time and that’s okay. Put your money in the bank rather than in someone else’s schemes and dreams. I promise it will come up again. Just hold on to your money for now.

ARIES FOUR OF PENTACLES [inlinetweet prefix=”ARIES” tweeter=”@tarotscopes” suffix=”…more #tarot”]Oh for goodness sake! Resources are meant to be shared, not [/inlinetweet]hoarded. When you dribble out your help, your commitment, your friendship, you are limiting yourself more. Limits are not going to get you where you need to be. Open up your heart to let others in. Stop being so stingy with your community, darling. And stop suspecting them of draining you. You may be doing that to yourself.

TAURUS SEVEN OF PENTACLES [inlinetweet prefix=”TAURUS” tweeter=”@tarotscopes” suffix=”…more #tarot”]Stop for just a moment. Breathe in the plenty. See all that [/inlinetweet]exists in your world. Your projects are good. You may need to set a few more goals to keep yourself on track. Don’t worry about what you are waiting on. All things will be ready for harvest in good time. Now is about working on what is at hand while the rest comes to fruition. Make a list of all your projects. Prioritize. Time to weed out that garden so the rest can grow.

The Cook's Tarot, Nine of Pentacles
The Cook’s Tarot

GEMINI FOUR OF SWORDS [inlinetweet prefix=”GEMINI” tweeter=”@tarotscopes” suffix=”…more #tarot”]You may feel a bit empty this week. As if there is no more [/inlinetweet]time for anything you want. It’s just your psyche asking for a time out. Rest and relaxation are your best tools. Find time to nap, to meditate, to just disconnect. Even five minutes a day will help you recharge. Or you can get your ass handed to you by the Universe’s version of a time-out. Your choice, darlings!

CANCER NINE OF PENTACLES [inlinetweet prefix=”CANCER” tweeter=”@tarotscopes” suffix=”…more #tarot”]Mmmmm, bon-bons! Long quiet moments of completely uniterrupted time to [/inlinetweet]savor life. This week commit to indulging in one completely selfish moment. Maybe two uninterrupted hours of reading? A bubble bath complete with candles and wine. A movie only you want to see. You’ve earned this reward but the trick is telling yourself that it’s okay to cash it in. I’m telling you now. It’s okay to give yourself this present.

LEO THREE OF CUPS [inlinetweet prefix=”LEO” tweeter=”@Tarotscopes” suffix=”..more #tarot”]Gather with those who know you best. Ask them for [/inlinetweet]the gift of their time. Share your joys as they share theirs. Listen to their woes as they listen to yours. Emotional connections are what you’ve been missing the most. It is time to reforge those friendships. Reach out to your BFF and all those closest to you. Could be a great week to take time for a tea party with those of a like-minded heart. Don’t worry about those who don’t get you. They are unimportant this week. Focus on friendships.

VIRGO TWO OF CUPS [inlinetweet prefix=”VIRGO” tweeter=”@tarotscopes” suffix=”…more #tarot”]Take a moment to think about mosaics. Let your mind wander around [/inlinetweet]the idea of all that goes into the creation. Tiny tiles of color moved around until they create a beautiful picture. This is your relationship right now. Move things around to make your picture clearer. If you have a love, look at them. Let yourself feel that fire for them. No love yet? Look at yourself. Feel that fire for you. Relationship building is about moving the pieces into the right places.

LIBRA KING OF SWORDS [inlinetweet prefix=”Libra” tweeter=”@tarotscopes” suffix=”…more #tarot”]Sometimes we work so hard for approval that we forget the secret of [/inlinetweet]self-approval. We have to tell ourselves that we are doing the right thing. Critical thinking includes approving the right thoughts as much as it includes slicing out what doesn’t work. Let your week be filled with self-approval over self-criticism. Rule your thoughts so that they don’t rule you.

SCORPIO DEATH [inlinetweet prefix=”SCORPIO” tweeter=”@tarotscopes” suffix=”…more #tarot”]Well that sucks, doesn’t it. No way to avoid this. [/inlinetweet]You’ve got to change some things in your world. Remember that what you put into the pot affects what you take out. Bitter angry thoughts bake into unhappy muffins, honey. Time to face your own orchestra and change your tune. Feed the parts of yourself that uplift you. Starve the parts that don’t. You’ve got this. It’s about changing your world by changing what you feast on most.

SAGITTARIUS FIVE OF WANDS [inlinetweet prefix=”Sagittarius” tweeter=”@tarotscopes” suffix=”…more #tarot”]Sometimes you’ve just got to take your best swing. But remember [/inlinetweet]others may be in your line of fire. Competition strengthens us in unexpected ways as long as we keep in mind that others are also out there striving to do their best. When you lift yourself up, focus on your strengths rather than pointing out their weaknesses. Mud-slinging always gets you dirty as well. Stay clean and fight fair.

CAPRICORN TEN OF CUPS [inlinetweet prefix=”Capricorn ” tweeter=”@tarotscopes” suffix=”… more #tarot”]Sometimes the best choice is to review what your happily-ever-after really [/inlinetweet]looks like. Stop focusing on others’ happiness and lives. Get your mirror out. Look yourself in the eyes. You can only control what’s in your hula hoop. Take care of what you have now. There’s a cloud in your life that you are over focusing on. That’s taking joy away from your world. Stop stalking sadness. Seek joy instead.

Remember to seek joy, y’all. Pass it on! I want to hear from you if you are ready to jump-start your hunt for your bliss. Let’s get started today to create a plan for you that takes you from feeling alone to feeling alive.

The Cook’s Tarot (Schiffer), 2015, is a deck I can easily recommend. The cards are large even for my hands but I found it easy enough to shuffle with a corner method. The cards themselves are colorful with a style that makes me think of the a more vivid Monet in some way. I love the attention to detail that Stirt brings. She isn’t shy about bringing you into close proximity with her characters. They fill up the cards. I am happy to have this one in my collection.

Card of the Week: JUSTICE Weigh decisions carefully. Think before acting. Time to get legal matters in order. Be fair in all things.

I’m using the Bleu Cat Tarot by Beth Seilonen. It’s from Schiffer Books. I adore this deck. It comes in a sturdy box with a magnetized lid. The drawings are simple without a great deal of fuss. It’s a lovely deck for someone who is distracted by too much in a drawing. I would also recommend it for children who want a deck of their own.

Now tell your friends what you thought! 😀

Kaikomako, Maori OracleToday’s card is from a favorite oracle of mine. I will be chatting with PA Minnell, the creatrix of the Maori Oracle, tonight on You Never Know.

Kaikomako is a type of tree that grows in New Zealand. It is used by the Maori people to start fires. I read up on this tree a bit and was interested to learn that the young tree looks very different from the adult.

That’s not so unusual in the mammal world, is it? How often have you grabbed a baby picture and not been sure who it was until you turned it over? I remember a conversation with my mother and aunt where they were trying to decide which children were in a picture. It was finally decided that it was myself and a girl cousin–but I don’t think they were positive of that. 😀

Go back ten years in your life. Think about who you were with, where you were, what you were doing. Who did you depend on then? Who do you depend on now? How has your family changed? How have you changed?

Honor that journey, y’all. You are handling it…even when it feels like you aren’t, you are handling it.

Join me at 10pm EST (4pm New Zealand time) tonight. Polli will be sharing her thoughts on Maori culture and more. She might even be convinced to do a reading or two!

Temper, Battles + Choice

I guess I’m committed to ending a relationship if no answer or an unsatisfactory answer comes.

BleuCat_13SwordsToday’s card urges me to think before I strike. It asks me if I know how to engage my reason before my temper. That can be a damned hard thing to do some days.

Recently an event caused a bit of a stir among my friends. I admit to have quite the knee-jerk reaction myself. But I managed to go to the source first. I asked my question in what I hope was a non-confrontational manner. Now I wait for a response.

Waiting for a response is hard. Just like our Bleu Cat Tarot Queen of Feathers (Swords) must wait for her butterfly to go out and come back, I have to be patient. I have a self-imposed timeline though. Similar to the Queen of Feathers, I will not put down my pen or sword. I won’t back off this information seeking trip.

I guess I’m committed to ending a relationship if no answer or an unsatisfactory answer comes.

And, yes, that makes me a bit sad all-in-all. But at some point a stand has to be taken. I guess only time will tell whether my Queen of Feathers will have to use her weapon or not.

In my , one lesson is on the Hero’s commitment to the journey. It goes into the idea that there is a donkey moment where the hero solidly and sometimes loudly refuses to go “all in” on the quest before him (or her). This feels like that moment to me. I have my heels dug in hoping for a better outcome than I believe is coming.

Your journal prompt for today is, “How can I choose my battles more wisely? What are my personal emotional tells that let me know I must commit to the change?”

Perserverance, Finishing + Now

You can’t stop now. You must just roll over those bumps and plot holes and “what the hell did my character just say” moments. This isn’t about editing.

Mary-El_8DisksToday’s card is a reminder of keeping at it. If you are doing any of the month events–be it knitting or writing or hooping or what have you, perseverance is key.

In today’s Wisdom News from Lissa Coffey, I pulled this nugget of fabulous!

Perseverance is stick-to-it-iveness! It’s having that vision that success is not only possible, it is inevitable. It’s having the fortitude to navigate the bumps in the road, and not let those bumps become road blocks.

-Lissa Coffey (www.coffeytalk.com)

And isn’t that the truth. Anyone who is doing #NaNoWriMo knows that the key is to keep writing. You can’t stop now. You must just roll over those bumps and plot holes and “what the hell did my character just say” moments. This isn’t about editing. No, not now. .

Mary-El_FoolToday’s card is the Fool from the amazing Mary-El Tarot from Schiffer and Marie L. White. It’s one of those decks that mesmerize me. I use it more for personal work than public because of how I respond to it.

Reading in public is an amazing thing. I love doing parties where many readers do not. But I can totally get into the 3 card mini readings. Last night I got to a house party while earlier this week i did a large corporate event.

Both were fulfilling. The house party really energized me because I got to read for some high school students. These kids knocked me out.

Cats, Chiweenies + Focus

I like the linear look of this card. I have to tell you that I haven’t even looked at the rest of it. Just pulled a card this morning to see what the deck’s first message was.

BleuCat_8Strength002So today’s card is from a brand-new deck. It will be released in two days. It’s from Schiffer so you know I love the box. There’s something else about the box this time but I’ll show you that in a video review…later.

Today I wanted to talk to you about the Strength card. In the Bleu Cat Tarot by Beth Seilonen all the cards are of a Siamese…blue point.

The thing that leaps out at me here is this cat’s focus. Even though a butterfly and a dragonfly hover within paw’s reach, le chat is all about the fish. ALL. ABOUT. THE. FISH.

Talk about intense right? Strength used to be called Fortitude (sometimes still is) and carried a message about single-minded purpose. This card has that going on, y’all.

I like the linear look of this card. I have to tell you that I haven’t even looked at the rest of it. Just pulled a card this morning to see what the deck’s first message was.

Focus.
Intensity.
Single-minded purpose.

I had an example of that this morning from my chiweenie, Batman. My yarn bag was on the loveseat. He decided it was the optimal bed. No amount of NO from me could pull him away.

So I moved the bag.

No sooner had I sat back down then I heard the bag rustling. Looked up and, yep, sure enough, he was dragging it back to the loveseat. Smart little cookie.

I moved it to a non-reachable by chiweenie place.

So now he’s curled up on my purse. Guess the loveseat isn’t soft enough. But my 14 year old Maine Coon is now right beside him so he’s got his desired cushy bed.

That was my lesson in focus this morning. My own living Strength tableau!

Books, Cards + Tattoos

Books, Cards + Tattoos…

Tattoo_BirthCardsSo today’s card is a book. I know, right? That’s kind of cheating, isn’t it? Well not really since I never promised you a card garden.

EAR WORM

Yes, yes. I am in a silly mood. Part of that is because I taught a class today (Sunday) which always revs me up. I love teaching.

We were working with Bonnie Cehovet’s Tarot, Birth Cards and You. It’s an excellent discussion of the concept of Birth Cards.

I asked Bonnie for some ideas on what to offer in this Meetup class. She was, as always, completely generous with her time and knowledge. I took her ideas and added a few of my own.

I encourage you to work with Bonnie’s book if you are interested in this concept.

For our class we determined our own birthcards (mine are pictured in the tattoo you see on this post–art work and tattoo by Dirk Mellot of Epiphany Tattoo, Aurora, Colorado). Then we did a brief guided meditation followed by activities that included writing an affirmation and doing a reading.

The spread we used was designed by me. I wanted to share it with you as well. Based on Bonnie’s book, I wanted to explore the concept of the theme as represented by the Birth Cards.

HOW CAN I MANIFEST MY LIFE’S THEME

Shuffle entire deck. Draw three cards.

1. How can I manifest the energy of this theme in my life?

2. What stands in my way?

3. What strengthens me on this journey?

We paired off and read for each other. So person A put their birth cards out and person B used their own deck to shuffle and draw and read for person A. It went very well. Our Meetup has folks who’ve read for 30 years and those who haven’t even bought their first Tarot deck. I love this mix of energy.

So for today’s journal prompt, even if you don’t know your own birth cards, let’s use this.

“How can I manifest my life’s theme?”

If you do use this spread, I’d love to know the results. If you want me to do this reading with you (including finding your birth cards and life’s them), book a half hour reading with me. I’d love to have a Tarot conversation with you.
