So today I am totally switching things up. I’m a bit stressed because of my MRI tomorrow. My mind isn’t on writing fun stuff for us. 😀 So forgive me?

What I want to do instead is have you dive into one of my Zentangles. Tell me what you see. Tell me what it makes you feel like. Do you hear a song?

Just relax and let go. No one is judging you.

Oh. The 15th is the cut off for the early bird price on my five week class. It’s online so you do the lessons at your convenience. For my readers, here’s a secret. If you set up a payment plan with me, you can get the early bird price as long as you pay the first payment by the 15th. 😀

Seek joy, y’all. Pass it on!

Life, Souls & Reconnections

That’s such an intriguing name, isn’t it? What does it mean to come back to life? Does it make your spirit sit up and take notice? Do you feel the overwhelming need to get back to the you you really are?

Today’s card is not a card but a course I’d like to share with you. I’ve been following Jodi Chapman’s blog for a while. She’s offering an e-course that I think will be fabulous. I love the title of it too. “Coming Back To Life

That’s such an intriguing name, isn’t it? What does it mean to come back to life? Does it make your spirit sit up and take notice? Do you feel the overwhelming need to get back to the you you really are?

Jodi’s newsletters and blog posts are always insightful but more than that, they promote a joyful way of being. Of course, I love that, right! I hope you will check out her information on this amazing course.

“Soul Speak: What does your soul want you to know” is one of those sites I can recommend without any reservation. It’s just good stuff, y’all!

Here’s a bit from the page about the course.

“Throughout this journey, we will begin to reconnect with our soul – the wise essence inside of us that always has the answers.

We will get to know this part of ourselves intimately – possibly for the first time in our lives. We will begin to trust this part of ourselves and remember that it is this part that always connects us to the entire universe. And we will begin to feel truly alive!”

Wise essence reconnections. What’s not to love about that?

Now hurry up and go check Jodi’s page out.

Seek joy, y’all. Pass it on!

Tangles, Zen & Stick Figures

Today’s card is not a card. Before I start, can you do me a favor? I’m teaching a one hour webinar this weekend. I’d love it if you could let your friends know. It’s one of my Tarot for Writers series. I’ll be sharing some tips, tricks and spreads on how to use Tarot to create characters who stand out! Click here.

Okay, commercial time over! 😀 Now, you will notice that this card says “Seek Joy, Y’all” and has Arwen 8-2012. This might lead you to believe that I did it myself.

But those of you who know me are shaking your heads saying, “But that Arwen–she can write but her stick figures leave something to be desired–like, you know, looking like a stick figure!” GRIN!

It’s true. Visual art has never been my forte, but it’s always been my love. I get lost in art. It can make me cry, sing, happy, you name it…visual art moves me.

I saw this thing on line and thought it looked really cool. I sighed that I would NEVER be able to do that. I looked it up anyway.

Then I took a class because it pretty much promised me I could draw these things. Yeah right.

Um. Yeah. Right! The one you are seeing above is never going to win an art show. But it made me happy. Like dancing and singing happy. My co-worker is really tired of my “NOW LOOK” as I work on these.

Have you ever wanted to learn how to do something but let fear or self-criticism or old tapes hold you back? Now’s the time to move forward.

RIGHT.
NOW.

Go find a class. Go do it. And tell yourself it is good. Allow yourself to be your own mama/papa to your five year old “LOOK WHAT I MADE YOU” self.

Do it for you and no one else, darlings! I believe in you. And yes, you can “LOOK WHAT I MADE” at me if you like. I’ll love it. Promise.

Seek joy, y’all! Pass it on.

P.S. This is called a Zentangle and you can learn more about them at (surprisingly enough) http://www.zentangle.com/ 😀 I know…crazy, right? I bought this book yesterday and some of the patterns you see in this piece were from this book.

Bats, Comfort Zones & Friendship

Today’s card reminds me to enfold myself in my own wings. The knowledge that I must be my own best friend (even though I am blessed with truly the best ever best friend) keeps me whole. When I don’t depend on others to uplift me, I am able to be truly grateful to those who do. Those who don’t? I allow them to fall away gently.

You see, I used to spend far too much time trying to be a friend first to others and last to me. By putting myself last, I actually put my friends last.

What?

It’s true. I brought to them a person searching for others to make me whole. I brought to them an incomplete me as if their love might shore me up–build me up–somehow make me more.

Isn’t that an awful burden to have put on them? I’m lucky that so many remain in my life from those years past. I don’t hate those who aren’t still here. I feel sorry for myself sometimes but I also know they made decisions that were best for them at that time.

  • Clingy? Check.
  • Whiny? Check.
  • Needy? Check.
  • Desperate for approval? Check.
  • Angry if they didn’t have time for me? Check.
  • Fearful if I didn’t hear from them immediately? Check.

Reality check. Do I still have those feelings? Absolutely. At times I still do. Then I do a hula hoop check to see what are my feelings to own and what aren’t.

I also pick up the phone to just say hello.

When we become our own comfort zone like this bat encircling these two lovers, then we become whole. And when we become whole, we are the best friends to have–both for ourselves and for others.

Doing the work is hard. I’m told that my positive pounding of Seek Joy, Y’all can be off-putting. Some may find it daunting when they are facing life’s harshest moments. Just know that by choosing joy, you defeat sorrow.

Seek joy, y’all. Pass it on.

Paths, Smuggling and Missing Things

Recently I saw the title of a book that simply intrigued me. It made me want to find the book. I have not yet bought this book, but I will own it. Part of what attracted me was the word “snail” in the title. See, lately I’ve learned to pay attention to my path because of snails. I know that sounds odd, but let me explain.
