Body, Mind, Spirit Coming Together

Today’s card is not one but three. Years ago when I first began studying the Tarot, I was told that I needed Mary K. Greer’s Tarot For Yourself [aff]. My teacher in the Craft told me that. And she was so right.

One of the lessons of that book is the Body, Mind, Spirit daily draw. MKG details how to do that so I won’t bore you here. I did the BMS draw daily for many years. Lately I’ve gotten away from that.

I felt like doing it this morning so I’m sharing it with you. Using the Medicine Woman Tarot (a recent gift from friends which is STILL making me smile), I drew the Fool (Seed), Lovers (Ecstasy) and the Three of Arrows.

MedicineWoman3001Body: Fool. I am reminded that seeds need time to grow. And seeds sometimes need to be replanted. The work I’m doing on my physical self is taking root. I need to keep being optimistic. Taking a chance on myself is worth it.

Mind: Lovers. I am reminded that I must love others as I love myself. When I slide into Negativeville about others, it invariable causes me to also become negative about myself. I do try to avoid negative people. At work, because of what I do, that’s impossible. I’m faced with negativity from customers as well as co-workers. I have to shed that from my mind. No bringing that home.

Spirit: Three of Arrows. Shot through the heart and you’re to blame. You give love a bad name. I just saw that a day or two ago on Twitter in reference to this card. It still makes me laugh. But the spirit of this card for my Spirit tells me that clear thinking can reconnect me. Spirit self is part of my mental focus. I just have to reknit the bones. (this makes sense to me.)

It’s hard to do a reading like this here. It’s a very personal spread.

Do you do a daily draw of any type? What do you want from it? Why do you do it?

My reasons are to have something to talk about here AND to give myself a bit of a push for the day.

Seek joy, y’all. Pass it on!

Here’s the book I mentioned and that I have all of my students purchase.

Daily, Dignity & Dawn

My reason for doing this is my utter mind balk in yesterday’s Tarot Meetup about using a specific Tarot method.

I’ve decided to set myself a goal of doing daily readings for a period of thirty days. I may or may not post them here in my blog. Part of what I am going to work on is learning how Elemental Dignities come into play. This could mean that I will have multiple posts some days–oh the horror.

My reason for doing this is my utter mind balk Continue reading “Daily, Dignity & Dawn”

Learning The Tarot: A Book List

Learning the Tarot is not difficult if you are willing to synthesize the information. You can’t read one book and expect to know all there is. I’ve been reading since 1980 and still learn something new every time I pick up the cards. One way to learn is to read a lot of books. Here are a few that would be good for beginners and those looking to expand their skills. Continue reading “Learning The Tarot: A Book List”

Other Blogs: Aeclectic Tarot

AT is not a blog per se. Most people would call it a bulletin board if they are old like me or maybe a forum if they are more “with it.” I found AT in May of 2003 and never looked back. Can’t remember how I found it but I know it fit every thing I Continue reading “Other Blogs: Aeclectic Tarot”

SPREAD: The Potent Self Spread by Mary K Greer

Mary K Greer presented a new spread. The Potent Self Spread caught my eye for two reasons.

  1. It was designed to be introspective. I gravitate towards that type of spread.
  2. It dealt with reversals. I’ve been asked quite a bit recently about how to read reversals. (That blog is coming up soon, promise!)

The premise is to help you find what is blocking your potential potency. What lessens you and what you can gain from growth. I am paraphrasing greatly here. What I want to talk about Continue reading “SPREAD: The Potent Self Spread by Mary K Greer”

Other Blogs: Mary K Greer

I know, I know…. Why should I tout other tarotist blogs here? Well because I like to share great finds. To me an engaging blog is one that makes me come back to it time and time again. I’m not so much about controversy as I am finding other writers who love to talk about the tarot. One of these blogs is Mary K. Greer’s WordPress blog creatively titled “Mary K. Greer’s Tarot Blog”. Often referred to by just her initials in the Tarot world, MKG delivers in her blog.

If you read a blog for pedantic thought that just regurgitates old stale information, do not read MKG’s blog. Continue reading “Other Blogs: Mary K Greer”
