Want, Need, + Fixes

Well my first question is…what do I need to see? Why is the illusion the wrong thing? Why can’t I focus on the pretty and ignore the rest?

HigherIntuitions_Ilusions001Today’s card is from a new oracle from Schiffer. I drew at random without looking through the cards first. Normally I do. Today was different.

The first thing I noticed were the colors. They just popped for me. Really rich, intense colors appeal to me. It’s one of the reasons decks like Roxi Sims’ Pearls of Wisdom get me.

The second thing that got me was the fact that I pulled my own spirit animal. I know. I’m so odd, right? Not a wolf. Not a hawk. Not a panther.

A dragonfly. You can see read a bit more about why the dragonfly here.

The key phrase “see through the illusion” is deceptively simple. The wings of the dragonfly allow you to see through a bit but there is so much going on to distract you, right?

Well my first question is…what do I need to see? Why is the illusion the wrong thing? Why can’t I focus on the pretty and ignore the rest?

Why? Why? Why?

Sometimes my inner voice is in five year old mode.

Look at the card again. The pretty pretty wings cover up another beauty. Some might think the flower too plain when compared to the dragonfly but wouldn’t they be missing out?

I think this speaks to our need to want more, more, more. How can we enjoy what we have if we are always looking for more.

Take the iPhone for instance. I’d like to have that 5S, oh yes I would. I could probably swing the money too if I pinched other areas. But I have the 5 so why do I need the 5S?

The illusion Apple would have me believe is that the 5S is a hundred times more the phone than the 5.

How often have we bought into that in other areas of our lives?

He’s more the man I want.
She’s the perfect girl for me.
That minivan will solve all my problems.
That dayplanner will fix my scheduling.

There’s one key thing in all of those things. One constant. Do you know what it is?

I’ll let the journal prompt for today answer that.

“How can I appreciate what I already have to live a more peaceful life?”

Seek joy, y’all. Pass it on.
