Today’s card reminds me of sadness and being misunderstood. And that’s a rather unusual interpretation for this particular card. Normally this is the card of love and romance and partnership.
But the Lorelei, to me, is a sad creature. She only wants love to come to her. She sings for love. She attracts love. Sadly none of them want to stay and that love is destroyed. Often, so is the lover.
Per the Dark Goddess Tarot, she is a German spirit of unending desire. The phrase in the Little White Book (LWB) is “the deeper you go, the harder your heart beats”.
So perhaps the Lorelei can find love if only one person will go deep enough to understand her. Deep enough to see all her parts–both light and dark.
Isn’t that what we all want? Just someone to love all of us?
Journal prompt today: “Do I love all their parts?”
During the working, the small Goddess statue (it’s of Ishtar) came to life. Yes, I know how strange that sounds, but there I was with the Goddess smiling at me and nodding Her head.
Today’s card is one of those moments when I have to whine, “Mom! The Tarot is mocking me again” but also when I must tell you a tale of true magic. Why? Because last night in a truly lovely sacred space created by Nancy Antenucci and Ellen Lorenzi-Price, a group of us all drew for the same reading. In those various posts, I kept seeing one particular card. I thought to myself, “Self! We need to look that Goddess up.” And looking her up reminded me of a spell that went really really well.
Today, I shuffled the Dark Goddess not even consciously thinking about last night. No, my thought was “Tell me what I need to know for today” and boom. There she was. Kamui Fuchi (Kamuy Fuchi) stared back at me. And y’all? I was just going to shuffle the cards one more time when I saw her.
The face that can’t be denied looked back at me. I’ve seen Her once before.
I read up on Her a bit this morning which is one of the reasons this post is a bit late. OOH SHINY and down the research hole I go. But back to Kamui Fuchi whose full name is Apemerukoyan-mat Unamerukoyan-mat said to mean Rising Fire Sparks Woman/Rising Cinder Sparks Woman according to the never-wrong Wikipedia. π
One thing I read is that She is so important that she never leaves her home. Another thing I learned is that the hearth is considered a gateway to communicate with the kamuy or Gods.
I love the image in this card. Her rising up from the fire. All of the others below Her. What a lovely thought to be able to sit before your own home fire to communicate with the Gods. That’s when I remembered my spell that went really really well.
I’ll tell you this story about this working. It seems apropos. This was back in…96 or so. I lived in Georgia. I’d quit a job that was sucking the life out of me. I needed a new one. So I did what any witch would do. I worked magic to call the right job to me.
I won’t go into how important it is to tell the Universe what you want and to be hope to what you get. The Universe doesn’t always see things the way you do so your pony might be a Mustang. π
During the working, the small Goddess statue (it’s of Ishtar) came to life. Yes, I know how strange that sounds, but there I was with the Goddess smiling at me and nodding Her head. No words, just movement. I remember thinking that maybe I’d fasted a little too long. Then I just asked Her to help me find the right job for me. She smiled and nodded again, then went back into statue form.
The next day I saw an ad for a job for a new company. I was in NO WAY qualified but it was something I wanted to do. So I sent in my email with resume attached.
Then I kicked myself for forgetting to turn off my tagline program. Anyone remember those? They randomly generated from lists you created? Yeah.
I’d just sent an email off for a technical job (again, not qualified for) with a tagline that said, “Hardware: That part of the computer you can kick”.
When I got the call for the interview, the woman mentioned that tagline. She said that was WHY she pulled my resume aside and WHY I got the interview.
I subsequently got the job. And it is still to this day one of my favorite jobs ever. I moved from rep to manager in six weeks and my office was the first satellite to achieve a 40k month.
But that all came from sitting in front of my candle flame and talking to the Gods. Now I know why Kamui Fuchi drew me so hard last night. I’d met Her before but not known Her name. In either this or another working in the same time period, I also met a Kitsune. But that’s a story for another day.
Journal prompt today is, “When have I asked for one thing and received another from the Universe? What was my lesson?”
If you choose to do a working, please remember to phrase it so it is open. Don’t ask for a pink party dress. Instead ask for the right outfit for you. [Tweet “The Universe isn’t keen on being told what it thinks…”]
Rainbows, Goddesses + Loss….what do you think of that?
Last week on the 2nd, I shared the Five of Earth from the Dark Goddess Tarot (Ellen Lorenzi-Price). Part of that sharing was two questions.
I drew two cards from a different deck to answer the questions.
Qustion One: “What am I doing to foster my feelings of lack and loss?”
Using the Rainbow Travellers Tarot (Carmen Waterman), the first card I drew is the Ten of Swords. Ouch, RTT. Not going to be gentle with me are you? FINE!
There aren’t many places that I do feel lack and loss but in one area? Oh yeah. And I foster that feeling by playing the poor me routine. I don’t go out when I could. And then when I can’t, I whine about never going out. LOL I set up my own self-fulfilling prophecy you see.
Question Two: “How can I reroute that thinking into positive avenues of change?”
And the really fabulous Seven of Wands shows up. She is dressed to be seen, be noticed, have some “out there” time.
And could these cards be more visually different? One is almost below ground with the tall weeds or grass out the window. The other is way up in the clouds.
So to get out, I need to get out. LOL
I KNEW that! Phhhhbbbt!
Yes, this is a very good example of the Tarot pointing out something I already knew. People who have Tarot conversations with me can corroborate that. I tell you what you already knew–most folks say it is confirming.
I like that. Do you want to have a confirming Tarot conversation with me? Use the Get A reading button to contact me. Let’s set it up.
Of course, not when I have “out time” scheduled. π

Today’s card makes me want to just smack the smug off her face. Wait. Haven’t I pledged to eradicate violence from my words? Sigh. That’s a lot harder to do than I thought.
But back to our Five of Air from the Dark Goddess Tarot. This card is traditionally a card of spite and strife as the Five of Swords. Many renditions show the aftermath of battle where there is a winner who has suffered losses they haven’t yet realized.
Here the energy is represented by a Goddess I didn’t know. Hailing from Japan, our dark-haired beauty is known as Harionago. Her message is “The situation is without honor. Engage at your peril.”
The wordsmith in me immediately translates that into Harry Nag. π What can I say? My mind is a wonderful and sometimes really strange place.
She has arrows in her hair and arrows flying off her own hair. Or are those serpents tongues or tails? Above here are five lovely cherry blossoms but I feel she’s more thrilled about the two that have fallen to the ground.
This is NOT a nice woman, y’all. She is someone who takes pleasure in other people’s hurts. She is out to cause harm because it feeds her.
Yes, the is the Japanese Goddess of Mayhem and Mischief. I know someone like this. This person is actually well known in my circle. She really enjoys stirring the pot by needling people. She’s happier when someone else is sad.
Do you know someone like that? Someone who finds themselves elevated only when they put someone down? How do you deal with them?
When I run into this Harry Nag online, I try to route around her. I have participated in events and groups where she is. When I can maintain my cone of silence, it’s all for the better for me.
But she always finds a victim. Or rather, a target. The people she’s gone after aren’t victims because they aren’t weak or beaten. They are targets because she circles them like some hyena trying to nip at their heels.
Yes, I think that’s my new name for her–Harry Nag. For me, I will continue to create a space where she is not welcome. I will call her out by name if necessary but for now, I’d rather not bring that sad shark to my waters. It’s so bothersome to have to rap them on the nose all the time.
Your journal prompt is “How can I attract positive people to my world? What are creative ways I can release the negative ones?”
Do you think I’ll be welcome in Hell for what I said about helicopter moms?
Today’s card features a Goddess I have mixed feelings for. I mean, yes, she’s all home and hearth and field and grain. But boy, did she put the hover in helicopter mother!
Most of us have a passing knowledge of the story of Demeter and her daughter Persephone. If you heard the version that I did, Hades is the big bad boy who stole her baby.
Well, let’s stop and think about that.
Here is Demeter gracing the Five of Earth. This card traditionally means loss of home and loss of money. Loss of family as well. So she is a good one for this card.
However, before y’all yank out your hankies to wipe your eyes, let’s consider this.
Persephone was abducted, or so we are told, by that rotten old Hades. Then her mother goes into serious shut down mode (no, that’s not a U.S. government dig) over this loss. Instead of doing something productive, she stops working.
Now, when Demeter stops working, it’s bad, y’all. No crops. No food. No nothing. So Zeus had to get involved. I see Zeus as the Olympus CEO. So he has to have a meeting with Demeter about her attitude.
When she tells him what’s what, he goes to his brother. His brother claims Persephone is happy where she is. Heck, she even ate some food.
That’s bad. You eat. You stay. Kind of like at a fairy banquet. Good news is she ate six pomegranate seeds (must be one of them-thar new-fangled diets, yo.) So Zeus mediates the conflict.
The final decision? Six months up and six months down–what you might call a split work shift.
I think Persephone was happy with her husband. I think our pretty little virgin Goddess got tired of being under mama D’s thumb and struck out on her own. I think the whole abduction thing was just a smear job by her mother. And it’s easy to do a smear job because most of us never go to the source being smeared. We just nod our heads and agree with the smearer. (Why do I suddenly want a bagel and schmear?)
The Five of Earth energy can be about loss and lack. But how often do we consider what caused the loss and lack? So someone’s parent kicked them out. Do you really think it’s all one sided? Sometimes it is (I personally know someone who was beaten and thrown out at the age of 14 for coming out to her folks). But I think more often than not, it’s a combination of things.
So today’s journal prompt may not be an easy one. “What am I doing to foster my feelings of lack and loss? How can I reroute that thinking into positive avenues of change?”
Seek joy, y’all! Pass it on.

Some of you got pretty direct ‘scopes this week. Let me know how you do? Oh, and a word of warning?
So this week, I am using a brand new deck. Yes, I’m a serial monogamist when it comes to decks. But this one is truly something else. My hands (left specifically) itched while working with them.
Like energy flowing out Spirit needing to touch Like connection flowing in Deity needing to speak
Yeah. Like that.
Some of you got pretty direct ‘scopes this week. Let me know how you do? Oh, and a word of warning?
DO NOT PISS OFF ANY TAURUSES THIS WEEK. They are locked and loaded, darlings. Pet the bull. Be nice to the bull. And as the song goes, “Stay away from the bull. He can get real mean.” A favorite song of mine. π

In the card’s background, there ten figures in various aspects of suffering. The Goddess wields her whip (an important tool for this particular Goddess in my fiction as well) as she moves forward. She pays no attention to the suffering around her. She’s moving on.
Today’s card is from a brand-new deck that is making quite a stir in the Tarot world. And this random draw today made me smile even though the card’s message is not the most appealing.
You see, I’m writing a story that features one of the Erinye. That Erinye happens to be Destruction who is pictured here. The key words are very apropos to my story as well.
“Endure it or end it.”
How often have you found yourself in a situation where you are not content? Where it seems as if everything is conspiring against you?
What did you do?
Did you endure it complete with venting to friends so you didn’t blow your top?
Did you end it so you could get on with the job of being happy?
In the card’s background, there ten figures in various aspects of suffering. The Goddess wields her whip (an important tool for this particular Goddess in my fiction as well) as she moves forward. She pays no attention to the suffering around her. She’s moving on.
When you are in a craptastic situation, it can be very hard to get out. I know. I was in an abusive relationship for five years. Five long years where I had to move from thinking it was my fault to understanding that it was that person’s inability to process their own anger. I had allowed myself to be her emotional punching bag (and physical nearer the end). So I also had to deal with my own acceptance. In a way, it was similar to Elizabeth Kubler-Ross’s five stages of dying.
And it took a long time to end it even after I was out of it.
It’s a tough call from this card.
Endure it or end it.
So let’s take that as our journal prompt today.
“What situation am I enduring when I should be ending it?”
