Welcome to the TarotCopes for the week of October 5-11, 2014. I don’t know about you, but it’s been a helluva start to this month already. It’s Mercury Retrograde so we can expect some communication kerfuffles. I recommend double checking facts and figures before you sign on any lines–dotted or otherwise.

About the image: I usually draw three cards from the cards I pulled for the Tarotscopes. This week’s made me grin since it puts the card of taking charge of your own life (the Chariot) between Opposition and Ruin. Careful how you navigate this week, darlings!

Card of the Week: 10 of Blades EEK! Careful you don’t follow angsty thoughts down a rabbit hole. Good week to really focus on positives.

AQUARIUS THE CHARIOT Sometimes you just have to make the move. Others try to direct but this is your show. Ignore the sockpuppets and DRIVE.

PISCES THREE OF BATONS You know what? Sometimes the parade IS for you. Make sure you let the whole thing roll by before you jump in though.

ARIES THE HANGED MAN You put yourself there. You can remove yourself. Sacrifices shouldn’t cost everything with no reward. Untie yourself.

TAURUS THE SEER Knowledge comes to you whether you like it or not. Hold on to it for now. Don’t reveal all just yet. Information for a rainy day.

GEMINI THE AEON Done being someone else’s mouthpiece? Ready to move up to your new role in life? Rise up, darling. Rise up. Time is now.

CANCER THE THAUMATURGE Make things happen? Sure you can. Force of nature? Yes you are. What you will, is. So don’t dillydally. Make it happen.

LEO EIGHT OF BUCKETS Understand that what has passed is past. Letting go means you can move forward. Check your anchors and cast off.

VIRGO MISTER BONES Meaningful changes may hurt but lack of change is worse. Turning yourself inside out to please another is even worse.

LIBRA FIVE OF BATONS Choose your battles wisely. Don’t engage where your energy would be wasted. Stay sharp mentally but disengage from conflict.

SCORPIO FIVE OF BUCKETS Cry me a river, baby. Don’t waste time on regret. Shake it off and get back in the ring. Shoulda/Coulda be gone!

SAGITTARIUS FOUR OF BATONS Friends provide support. Look to your community–strange as they are–for what you need. Ask for help to get it.

CAPRICORN FIVE OF BLADES Someone may not want you to succeed. Make sure they don’t have power in your world. Cut them out if you must. It’s your life!

Have you listened to this month’s TarotCopes podcast? And leave a comment there so you will be entered in this month’s drawing for a free half hour reading with me.

As always, I truly appreciate that you stop by to read these each week. Help keep them free by sharing them with your friends. Word of mouth is my best business builder and it’s your mouth and your words that help. 😀

Seek joy, y’all. Pass it on.

P.to the S. Don’t let the sockpuppets get you down. They only have power when you react to them.

Hype, Reality + Responsibility

Today is about hyperbole vs reality. Who’s responsible?

Today’s #affirmation is brought to us by a man who thought he could take down P.T. Barnum. He was so huge that they called him the father of the modern circus. He single-handedly brought Jumbo the elephant to America.

Okay, so a lot of that is hyperbole…or to use the more common shortened version–hype.

This Governor of Rings is James Anthony Bailey who was born as a McGuiness. His career as a circus owner/ringmaster was legendary. He had his own show then joined with P.T. Barnum. They eventually joined with the Ringling Brothers to form what is a still active circus troupe.

Many of us dislike circuses now for the treatment of animals. I’m going to put that aside for now. Instead, I want to shine a light on this card. The traditional name is the King of Pentacles. He is often seen as a bit of a stick-in-the-mud Mr. Banks type by me.

His role in the Tarot is often that of taskmaster, banker, rule enforcer. Here he’s been given a different hat (top hat, even) to wear. This man is now a ringmaster of a circus. He must do more than point out the amazing acts and beautiful girls. He also is responsible for the overall financial success of his endeavors.

And more than that? He is the ultimate yes-or-no in many people’s lives. Their livelihood depends on this man. It cannot be an easy thing to have that much responsibility. I imagine he understood “heavy is the head that wears the crown” on a very personal level.

Responsibility happens.

I am responsible for making sure my bills get paid, my animals get the food and medical attention they need and so on. Some days I’d like to chuck it all to go live in a cave. But the reality is, responsibility exists.

So that brings us to today’s affirmation:

Today I am responsible for my own happiness. Today I remember to choose to be in a good mood. Today I remember to celebrate my ability to be responsible. Loved and loving, I love each of you.

Seek joy, y’all. Pass it on!

P. to the S. Are you going to do #NaNoWriMo this year? It’s my first year as a participant. Usually I’m instead. I finally made the workshop an So if you are doing it, come find me! I’m TarotByArwen there.
