Fleeting, Flowers & Love

I hope that you know that you are loved. I hope that you know that joy and beauty are not fleeting. They simply transform into other things.

DSCF2940Today’s card is a present to you from me. I’m thrilled with beauty like this. It makes me soul sing. This is from my own back porch from August of this year. No matter where you are, take this simple thing as a moment of joy from me to you.

I hope that you know that you are loved. I hope that you know that joy and beauty are not fleeting. They simply transform into other things.

Like the caterpillar into the butterfly or the hibiscus flower into petals on the ground, each of us is constantly changing as well. Celebrate that newness. Celebrate those changes. Perhaps the person looking back at you in your mirror isn’t quite the person you expected to see when you imagined yourself years ago. Still, that person is loved and is loving.

Isn’t that enough in this world? Let this flower be the Ace of Swords today and think beautiful thoughts about yourself always.

Seek joy, y’all. Tell someone they are exactly who you need them to be. Pass it on.

Mandala, Flaws & Nibbles

So I grabbed a pencil and created one. Then I set the pencil aside to make this one. Yes, I used a pen and didn’t use a pencil for any of this. I committed to it fully.

Mandala2_joyToday’s card is one I drew myself. I watched a video on Youtube then dove into the process. I credit two women with my exploration of my visual artistic side. That’s the fabulous Joanna Powell Colbert and the amazing Leonie Dawson. I’ve never met either in person but am involved in their online communities. I’ve taken classes with both as well. Highly recommend both.

I don’t even remember how I ran across this video (it’s called “How To Grow A Mandala). It was short and sweet. Also? It was very clear.

So I grabbed a pencil and created one. Then I set the pencil aside to make this one. Yes, I used a pen and didn’t use a pencil for any of this. I committed to it fully.

Even with the flaws in this (and there are many if you have a critical eye), I love it. It makes me happy. I snapped a shot with my iPhone then used the Camera app (that’s not the native one but one from the iTunes store) to crop and to add what they call the Emo filter.

If this were a card, it would be the Wheel of Fortune to remind us that things are always turning. If you surround that constantly turning, churning wheel with joy, you will keep running in to it.

Remember that joy doesn’t have to be huge bites. It is often small tiny nibbles that eventually add up to a full meal. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.

By seeking joy constantly, you will pile up small joys until they accumulate into piles of joy that you can leap into.

And no, it’s not easy. Sometimes it sucks so hard you can breathe. But then you realize that breathing is a joy. So tiny, small, seemingly insignificant things should be steadily looked for.

One of my joys is that I’m at a point in my workbook+planner where I feel as if I’ve actually made some headway. The business version still sits on my dining room table–unpunched, unbound, undone. And that’s okay. I will get to that. It’s a joy that I have the luxury of time to do either of these.

It’s also a joy that you read this. I’m honored by the gift you give me when you read this. When you check out links I share or people I recommend, it thrills me. I want to be on this joy journey with like minded souls. Thank you for joining me.

Remember, when you get your copy of the planner/workbook, let me know. I’ll hook you up with the seeeekrit Facebook group. We are already there waiting for you. Can’t wait for your arrival. .

Merry Christmas Eve to all those who celebrate. Me, myself and I? I celebrate them all.

Seek joy, y’all. Pass it on!

YULE: Tarot Blog Hop

zentangle042Previous Blog| Master List | Next Blog

Our Yule Blog Hop theme is ‘Christmas Present’. It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to blog about today. Part of this was the fact that I had so many ideas–I couldn’t settle on one. I could have shared about the present that has been in my life. I could have talked about how to be more present in life. I might have even turned this into a Me-me-me post to chat with you about presents I wanted.

But then it hit me. One of the neatest gifts I’ve gotten all year is the chance to interact with and learn more about my fellow Tarot lovers. This blog hop has been one of those vehicles for that. I like to think we’ve created a community of readers who are all intent on the same thing–to spread the joy that Tarot brings each of us. This hop has featured spreads and videos and baring of souls. We’ve seen out of print decks, brand new decks and peeks at decks to come. Every six weeks, I’ve gotten to unwrap more joy and more Tarot goodies than I ever thought possible. All because of one offhand remark about how we should build community rather than tear one another down.

So this is the last hop of this year. I’m really proud of the many Tarot bloggers who have hopped along with this idea. It started out as a reaction to something ugly but has turned into something simply amazing. Donnaleigh shared this link for those who wanted to know more about this community event.

We learned from each hop. The first thing we learned was the fact that we needed a master list. Links were broken. Bloggers got ill. Things happened. So our readers could navigate more easily, we created master lists. We sometimes cranked at each other behind scenes because we wanted this to be perfect. We learned to adjust and compromise for when another blogger fell off the loop for whatever reason.

My holiday present to you is a look back at the loops that have gone before. I guess you could say this is the ghost of Tarot Hops past.

Here are the master lists to this year’s hops:

Imbolg had no master List so you can start here.
Ostara’s master list is here.
Beltane’s master list is here.
Litha’s master list is here.
Lammas’ master list is here.
Mabon’s master list is here. I didn’t participate in this one due to a trip I was on.
Samhain’s master list is here.
The Yule master list is here.

And we will be doing this again next year. If you are a blogger who would like to join us, please do! The only caveat is that the post must have something to do with Tarot or some other oracle or divination method.

Thanks for being part of my Christmas present right now. I hope you will leave me a comment. I love to know you were here.

Happy Holidays!

Seek joy, y’all. Pass it on.

Perspective, Thieves & Focus

I didn’t want justice. I wanted revenge. I was angry that my beloveds lost their things to fools like this. Furious that someone would dare set an unwelcomed foot where people I cherish lived.

MoonPrincess_JusticeToday’s card makes me dizzy. I had to take a few moments where I turned it upside down to make sure the printer hadn’t messed this one up! It’s an unusual interpretation of this card. You have to take into consideration where this deck comes from.

It’s the Moonprincess Himiko Tarot out of Japan. I got this deck in a Tarot lot auction from Ebay. There was another deck that I really wanted (the Ukiyoe) so this was simply a bonus to me. It’s very colorful, isn’t it?

But it makes me dizzy. Seriously. My eyes try to reverse the image. My neck hurts from my imaginary craning up to see this dazzling display. I can’t figure things out.

And isn’t that how justice feels sometimes? We expect one thing but something else happens. We feel cheated. I think that may be because we actually wanted something other than rather than justice.

Today I learned that one of my family members had their home robbed. They lost valuables but their dogs were left unharmed. They themselves were not home. I posted a very violent, cruel suggestion as to what needed to happen to them.

I didn’t want justice. I wanted revenge. I was angry that my beloveds lost their things to fools like this. Furious that someone would dare set an unwelcomed foot where people I cherish lived.

Then I remembered this quote from today’s Word-A-Day email.

If we could read the secret history of our enemies, we should find in each man’s life sorrow and suffering enough to disarm all hostility. -Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, poet (1807-1882)

Ouch. A reminder to me that violence cannot be the correct response even in a case like this. Yes, I was venting. Yes, I was commiserating with my family. I understand that. But I personally can’t let myself slide. Then I go back to the violent language I’ve pledged to eradicate from my language.

Not easy. Not easy at all.

Last night I was working on my planner (yes, you can still get it. Yes, I still love it. Yes, you can still join our seeeekrit group here on Facebook when you get yours.) There’s a section of questions about what I want to do for next year in some specific areas. One of those areas was “big huge dreams” that might be so crazy out of reach it didn’t make sense to even write them down.

I wrote some down. One of those? Buy a hybrid with cash. 😀

So that’s not easy either. But I know if I am to eradicate violent language or buy a hybrid car with cash, I have to focus and work on the steps that get me there.

So I have to change my perspective about those humans who stole from my family. This Justice card makes me do that. I have to adjust my mind to see things in a different way.

I still want the thieves brought to justice, but I’m willing to forgo my original statement about slicing their balls then shooting them off.

Yeah. I told you it was a violent statement. Sorry.

By the way? I’ve got a seeeekrit code for you to use if you would like to get a really pretty, sparkly headband for your New Year’s festivities. and get yourself some Fekkai products for your hair. Scrumptious! You can get 10% off plus the pretty sparkly headband w/ a $50 purchase. Your seeeekrit code is HEADBAND. #ad #pgstocking Hope you will take a minute to check out their stuff!

Illuminate, Illustrate & Dream

I see this as a call to illuminate my heart more. To bring color and swirls in. Be more decorative. And that does tie into this lovely card from the Rumi Tarot.

Rumi_7CupsToday’s card reminds me that an illuminated heart is a lovely thing to own. It’s an even lovelier thing to share. Not because of the quote on the card, but because of the header on the back of the book that goes with this deck.

What does it mean to you to have an illuminated heart? For me, I read that word in two ways. One is the common “lit up” way but the other way is the idea that illuminating something is to decorate it. The Book of Kells (oooh look! One you can color on your own!) is an illuminated (and illuminating) book for me.

Another of those is this that I’m doing. We’ve just had a discussion about the 100 things we are each choosing. I’ve confessed that I’ve written down about eight. Someone else, who’s done this workbook in the past, shared that hers included fun, fanciful things like eat a purple cake with sprinkles. Her advice was to loosen up a bit–to play some more.

I see this as a call to illuminate my heart more. To bring color and swirls in. Be more decorative. And that does tie into this lovely card from the Rumi Tarot.

Here we are told

the present world is but a dream the sleeper imagines to be real.

Seems a bit chastising in a way, but what if the dream we are having is one where the present world is moving towards joy? What if we all focus on the same dream of good coming out on top? What then?

Wouldn’t that be a lovely reality as well as dream?

Illuminate your heart first. Then watch as the light spreads decoration and hope to the person you are closest to and then from them to the next.

We are strong human beings, y’all. Imagine how fierce and strong we are when we focus on the same thing. Just dream how marvelous that could be.

A whole world with illuminated hearts…

Seek joy, y’all. Pass it on.

Join me on my and then friend me here on Facebook so I can get you into the group. We are thrilled to have you join us.

Suckies, Swords & Solutions

I sometimes beat myself up over reacting instead of acting. I do it a lot with close, personal relationships. More so, in fact, than with other types of relationships.

LeonieSuckiesToday’s card reminds me of a Tarot card fraught with anxiety and dread. When this one shows up, I tend to ask my client how much tail-chasing they’ve been doing.

Often we make our anxieties and worries far larger than they actually are. And it’s hard not to. But my sister sent me an email she gets. One of the things it said that really struck me was:

“We’re learning new ways to act and react and learning to listen is a good place to start.”

I sometimes beat myself up over reacting instead of acting. I do it a lot with close, personal relationships. More so, in fact, than with other types of relationships.

And a HUGE part of that is because I don’t listen. I’m often in my head SOLVING their problems. Oh that card? It’s the 9 of Swords.

Yeah.
Right.

This is a case of the Suckies striking for me. I get down on me. I feel bad about me. I shame myself for my reactions.

Leonie Dawson’s life planner had a page titled “What To Do When The Suckies Strike.” I laughed when I saw it, then immediately filled it out.

When my own anxieties and fears start taking on lives of their own, I’m going to refer to this list. I plan on making it my phone’s lock screen so that it is the first thing that I see when I access my phone. 😀

What are just two things you can do for when your own “life freakin’ SUCKS, y’all” moments hit you?

Write them down. Tuck them in your purse or your wallet or somewhere you can get to them easily.

THEN DO THEM.

There’s still time to get your copy of Leonie’s workbook. You can see my video review of the business version of this planner+workbook here.

Directions, Limits & Purposes

I was contemplating that list of one hundred things I want to do for 2013. Walking back from my break to my desk at my day job, it hit me.Tarot is not my life’s work.

Psst! Here for the Awesome Writer’s Muse Giveaway? Keep reading!

Today’s card is one I intentionally drew. I wanted a card to represent this big wow moment that I’ve been leading up to. I needed to demonstrate how this is going to change my life. Doing the work with the has been on my mind a lot.

Oh hush.

I can hear the lot of you gasping, “Noooooo, we hadn’t noticed.”

Don’t think I can’t hear you.)@( ANYWHO!

I was contemplating that list of for 2013. Walking back from my break to my desk at my day job, it hit me.Tarot is not my life’s work.I know, right? I was pretty gob smacked. I would have told you at the beginning of the year that Tarot was it for me. But it’s not.

Tarot is a vehicle for my life’s work. My life’s work is showing you (and me) that you can change your world, recreate yourself by adding these two phrases.

1. You can only control what’s in your hula hoop.

2. Seek joy, y’all.

As Leonie says, “It’s all about aligning your actions with your intentions.” So I’m going to be focused next year on for this new realization.

Don’t panic. I’m not going to walk away from Tarot consultations completely. I am going to be harder to book though because I’m going to limit my readings appointments to a set number per month. I’m still working on that number because I want to make sure I balance things.

One of those things is the book I’m wrapping up. If you want to hear about this book when it’s available, sign up here. This is completely separate from my monthly newsletter with the monthly tarotscopes podcast. I will use this list only to announce availability of this book (and the others that I’m working on like my Fairy Tales Spreads book and my 30 Days To Joy workbook.) So you can expect email ONLY when I have something pertinent to say about the book like “the book is ready.”

And that’s my big news. I’m changing my direction. I’m moving my chariot towards my life’s purpose rather than the vehicle of my life’s purpose. I still love Tarot. I am not abandoning Tarot. I’m just heading in the right direction now.
