Musings On The Fool’s Journey: The Fool Meets The Hanged Man

rws_foolThe sun had dropped in the sky a bit before our Fool shook himself from his reverie. The motion set off a merry jingle of bells which caused his little white dog to pounce at his shoes while barking. He laughed then began to dance a bit so his dog had to run to try to catch the tassels on his shoes.

“Hurry, little friend. Justice told me there would be a man in a tree next. I wonder if he will have a tree house.” The Fool mused as he struck off on the left-hand path. The dog ran quickly after him grabbing at his heel and growling. Continue reading “Musings On The Fool’s Journey: The Fool Meets The Hanged Man”

Musings On The Fool’s Journey: The Fool Meets Justice

rws_foolThis is the next installment of my Fool’s Journey. I am simply writing the story as I think it might happen for this eternal wanderer of the Tarot. I hope you enjoy. You can read from the beginning by skipping to the end of this post.

With his dog yipping at his heels, the Fool left the strange scene of the ever-turning Wheel behind him. He flipped a bit of cheese to his dog as they continued down the road. For a moment the Fool had wondered if he should go back, but then he shrugged. Continue reading “Musings On The Fool’s Journey: The Fool Meets Justice”

Musings On The Fool’s Journey: The Fool Meets The Wheel Of Fortune

What does it mean?” he asked aloud but no one responded. One woman reached up to the wheel while another cowered in fear on the ground. As the Fool watched, the Wheel turned moving the demon to the top and the sphinx to the bottom while the snake wrapped its way to the other side.

“Wake up, wake up, little fool!” The old man’s voice sounded far too cheerful for such an early hour. The Fool groaned as he rolled over to blink rws_radiant_foolbleary-eyed at the Hermit.

He accepted the bowl of food sharing a bit with his little dog who whined from the floor. “Where am I to go today? You said something about a wheel last night?”

Nodding his head sagely, the Hermit pointed at the open door. “You must set your feet facing the sun this morning, Fool. You seek something you can’t find but I know that nothing will convince you of that. So head for Continue reading “Musings On The Fool’s Journey: The Fool Meets The Wheel Of Fortune”

Musings On The Fool’s Journey: The Fool Meets The Hermit

The Fool put the house and the lady and the lion behind him as he lead his dog down the dusty path. The sun high above him warmed his back so he kicked up his heels.

“C’mon slowpoke! Let us find this Hermit and find out if he has this Will I am told by the Magician I need.”

Barking excitedly his little white dog raced past him chasing a butterfly into a field. The Fool laughed with sheer delight as he joined his dog in the tall green grass.

“Well this is nice, isn’t it. Let us lie here for a while, Continue reading “Musings On The Fool’s Journey: The Fool Meets The Hermit”

Musing on the Fool’s Journey: The Fool Meets Strength

The Fool climbed out of the chariot and stood watching as the Charioteer disappeared in a cloud of dust. Looking down at his dog, he murmured, “I wonder how he knew what I was looking for? Oh well, let’s rest a bit then we can go find this woman and her lion. I’d like to see that, I think.”

So the Fool wasted no time at all. He whistled to his little dog as he set off at a brisk pace. All the time he wondered what he would find when he found the woman and the lion. The sun was high in the sky when he began but as he walked, time passed while the sun fell lower and lower in the sky.

“I don’t know if we will ever find this lady the Charioteer told us about, Dog.” The Fool stopped to drink from a crystal clear stream. “Do you think we should just forget about all of this searching for Will? I mean–is it that important after all?” Continue reading “Musing on the Fool’s Journey: The Fool Meets Strength”

So the Fool left the temple of the Heirophant wondering if he’d be in trouble again. Then he realized that the sun was shining. He focused on his little white dog dashing through the weeds chasing bright yellow butterflies.

“I wonder who the Eternal Couple is?” He lifted his jingly cap to scratch his head. “Or Continue reading “Musings on the Fool’s Journey: The Fool Meets the Lovers & The Chariot”

Fool Rider-Waite-Smith

(In today’s episode, the Fool runs afoul of the Heirophant. He is so busy that he is only able to visit the one Major Arcana. I think you will see why.)

The Fool burst out into the courtyard to find the Heirophant. As he passed the guards, his little dog woke up from its nap to join him.

“Where can I find the Heirophant?” He queried the guard to his left.

“Go Continue reading “Musing on the Fool’s Journey: The Fool Meets the Heirophant”

The Fool (Rider Waite Smith)

If you are just joining the Fool in his travels through the Major Arcana, you might like to start with this Fool Meets The Magician And The High Priestess.

Our Fool danced along the path–his little white dog beside him. He liked to turn his head this way and that. He did this as much to see how the trees changed when he changed his perspective as to hear the merry jingle of the bells in his hat.

“Where are you going, Fool?” Continue reading “Musing on the Fool’s Journey: The Fool Meets the Empress and the Emperor”
