Publicity, Perception & Passion

I am over 51 years old and have spent a lifetime calling myself names — fat, inadequate, broken. You name it. I probably called myself worse.

I’m sharing my Facebook posts here as well.

Today’s card is not a card. I want you to ask yourself a question. Do you have a publicist for your life? For the person you are? Or do you have a frenemy? And I’m not talking about some outsider. I’m talking about that person you see every day.

In. Your. Mirror.

I wanted to share a snippet from the bonus spread in my free e-book that I released yesterday.

Our joy is in our hands. It is in how we perceive our world and our selves. Do you talk down to yourself? Do you secretly call yourself names? You draw that energy to you when you do. This is one of my personal hardest battles. I am over 51 years old and have spent a lifetime calling myself names — fat, inadequate, broken. You name it. I probably called myself worse. So it is a daily ritual for me to look myself in eye in the mirror and remind myself that I am a gorgeous woman with a great sense of humor and a talent–no, a passion for writing.

You need to be your own publicist.

Don’t be your frenemy. Be your publicist. You are an amazing person. You must believe it. You must own it.

Seek joy, y’all. Pass it on.

  1. You are quite right – we are so often our own worst enemy. Be your own publicist! Great idea and one we could all do with remembering EVERY DAY!!!!! Great post! Ali x

  2. Never heard it phrased quite that way! You’re completely right – the way we represent ourselves TO ourselves goes a long way towards how we present to the rest of the world. And that usually leads to us being more like the person we want to be.

    1. I think it comes from my work as a fiction author where publicists are so popular. Not that Marilu Mann needs one…yet. 😀 Thanks for stopping by!
