Dreams, Hurry & Fetal Positions

This is my card of the day from Facebook. Yes, I’m crossposting. Sue me.

Today’s card reminds me that we all have incubation periods. I mean think about it. Everyone of us started in this life by waiting up to nine months to make our first appearance. Then it was another 9-12 months before we even walked. And talking? Don’t get me started on how long that took some of us!

Emergence here is the 20th card in Stevee Postman’s Cosmic Tribe Tarot. You see the man curled up in the fetal position. His head lies on a bed of purple flowers. They look like wisteria to me. Then he rises to stand as a winged figure reaching for … what? More! He’s just reaching for more.

The flower he is standing on looks like a dogwood blossom which would be interesting if it is. That flower has a very Christian association for me.

So when you feel like you are waiting for something, anything, to happen, don’t despair, darlings. It’s okay. Waiting is something we are all really good at. Or we were before we let the constant hurry hurry scurry of today’s world catch us up and propel us into…what? More! There’s got to be more.

It may be that the more is something we need to step aside for. Perhaps we are hurrying scurrying past it.

What if we are missing our MORE! because we are not taking the time to wait? What if we are caught up in a socially manufactured stream of fast?

Emergence takes times, dearlings. Assume the fetal position? Probably not, but I can take time out to wait. To watch. To be ready when MORE! comes to me.

I’ll be dreaming in the wisteria today. Smelling the sweet hot scent of summer. Listening to the bees buzz from blossom to blossom. Understanding the secret message of the morning breeze.

Then I’ll hurry scurry off but I’ll remember what it felt like to just lie quietly listening to my dreams emerge.

  1. Thanks for this, Arwen. I am definitely incubating something at the moment, and like a baby I don’t yet know what it looks like. And just like being pregnant, the closer I get to the due date the more impatient I become! However, I don’t know when this thing is going to make itself known to the universe so I feel my impatience growing even more! Thank you for reminding me to wait and be patient, and thank you for telling me I’m good at doing that. Love and light to you.
