Character Reading: Lucius Dragos

Today’s character reading is for JK. Beck’s delectable hero, Lucius Dragos. He’s a Pisces born 3/15/122. Like many Pisces, he’s a bit shy. I think my reading may have disturbed him a bit. JK Beck kicks off what promises to be a really great new series complete with vampires, werewolves and other things that go bump in the night.

J.K. Beck, authorJ. K. Beck spent more than ten years as a litigator in Southern California and Central Texas, using her rare free time to indulge in her passion for writing. Now she uses her legal background as inspiration for her paranormal romantic suspense series, The Shadow Keepers, set in and around a secret judicial system hidden within and mirroring our own.

You can learn more about J.K. Beck on her site. She even admits to a touch of schizophrenia over there. Interesting stuff!

Hermit World Spirit Tarot1. How do you see the people around you?

Well, seeing that you are a Pisces, I am not surprised to see the Hermit. You are a hidden teacher. You deliver lessons but many never see the delivery or the deliver. They just reap the rewards…or the punishment.

People, to you, need guidance and need to be avoided. You have a goal—a geas, even, but you know yours is to be a lonely path.

You may be seeking someone who can learn what you do so that you can train them. Or maybe you do what you do because you don’t want anyone else to bear that burden.
Lucius’ Response: As a rule, I am not the type of man who would like to see himself reflected back so clearly in the cards, but I can’t deny that what you say has a certain amount of truth to it.

Temperance2. How are you seen by the people around you?

Temperance is a card of balance. Those that see you may think you are an angel or a demon. It’s hard for them because you are very elusive. There is an element of change about you. Perhaps you are a chameleon in that you can blend in wherever you are.

People look to you for more than you may think you can offer, but I would challenge you to look deeper within yourself. You have a source of energy that is very addictive to others. The smart ones know to admire. The foolish may rush in.

Lucius’ Response: I am afraid that your cards do indeed show more than I would like revealed. I suppose that means I must praise your insight even while damning it.

3. What is your most important goal?

Oh dear. Lucius, the Four of Swords is the card of the weary warrior. There is a part of you that seeks sanctuary from all the hardness of the world. You also know that you have to protect someone.

I think this other person is also a warrior with wounds. Just as you are wounded within from your loneliness, they are hurting. Their injury may be what brings you together, but I think you will find a place to rest your fears with this person as well.

And we all have fears.

Lucius’ Response:
You definitely speak the truth. There is one person for whom I would give my life to keep her safe.

4. Where do you get your strength from?

Another swords card turns up here. The Five of Swords is an unusual place for you to gain strength from unless you gain energy from battle and from winning.

This makes me think that you flourish when you are in the midst of conflict. So even though you want to find rest and peace, can you afford it if you gain your strength from what you want to put aside?

Lucius’ Response: I am most myself in battle. It is what defines me, and also what torments me.

5. Why do you want to be remembered?

And yet another swords card. I would have to name you a warrior with all of this steel in your reading, Lucius. The Ace of Swords is the card that can be seen as Excalibur in some decks. It symbolizes victory and ultimate conquest.

Simple answer is that you want to be seen as the one who put the last sword in the last enemy. You have a ravening need to best those who you see as evil.

Be careful that this need doesn’t lead you to mistake friends for enemies and vice versa.

Lucius’ Response:
That is good advice, and also truly perceptive. I have made it my purpose to eradicate those who are evil among us and yet pass through the system without succumbing to justice.

  2. I love books. Specially free books. lol

This sounds like a good book. I know many people are tired of the whole vampire genre but I have been reading that genre for years.
Like the idea of using tarot cards for the character!

  3. What a fun exercise for you and for the author! I’d love to win a signed copy of WHEN BLOOD CALLS, sounds interesting! Thanks for introducing us to a new series, Arwen. 🙂

  4. I think Lucius was a bit intimidated by how close you read him. He probably hides behind his warrior image as a way of protecting himself (not just the person he feels he needs to protect). Very interesting reading. t
