Tarotscopes for November 24-30, 2013

Vanessa Tarot, UniverseWelcome to Tarotscopes for November 24-30, 2013. This is a mixed bag week and some of you need to work on thought patterns a little more intensely, please and thank you.

Did you miss last week’s You Never Know with Seressia? We discussed magical vajayjays. No really!

Tomorrow, 11/25, PA Minnell will be chatting with me about her Maori Oracle. We might even convince her to do a reading or two. It’s a rare opportunity for a peek into the Maori culture. This deck has amazed me every time I’ve worked with it. Join the show’s Facebook page to get the links and time.

My eCourse Mapping The Hero’s Journey is winning some rave reviews. “The first few character-building days brought me a wealth of goodness right away” is just one lovely comment I’ve gotten. Sign up today and take the course at your own pace.

  • AQUARIUS SIX OF COINS Generosity wins. Nature, spirit, soul–be loving and giving in all. Don’t expect a return. Let the giving be the reward.

  • ARIES KING OF SWORDS Follow your thoughts where they lead you. Then leap again. You have a brainstorm of AMAZING this week. Pay attention.
  • TAURUS THE HIEROPHANT Time to be the teacher. Time to remind them of the rules of school. Boundaries must be set more firmly. Yes, again.
  • GEMINI ACE OF SWORDS Time to be startin’ something. You better be startin’ something. What you put your mind to, succeeds. So do that, okay?
  • CANCER ACE OF CUPS Love comes your way. Open up to the possibilities. Deepen your relationships to find the missing meaning of life. Open.
  • LEO TEN OF SWORDS Your thoughts are your own worst enemy some days. Turn those sharp points down. No, don’t aim them at someone else. Sheesh!
  • VIRGO FOUR OF COINS A budget doesn’t mean denial. It means thoughtful choices that mean something. Spend what needs to be spent but only that.
  • LIBRA KNIGHT OF SWORDS Your thoughts are on overdrive. So many things to think about, dream about. Choose your battles wisely, padawan.Vanessa Tarot, Ace of Cups
  • SCORPIO SEVEN OF WANDS Defend your position with passion but don’t drive off your support team in the process. Stand that ground carefully.
  • SAGITTARIUS THE TOWER Not to worry, darlings. Your bumps will be minimized by your sheer awesomeness. Prepare for the unexpected to succeed.
  • CAPRICORN QUEEN OF WANDS Communicate effectively by showing rather than telling. You know…walk the talk. Super busy week. Expect multitasking as usual.

What Does Passionate Mean?

Today’s cards are based on the spread I know as Mary K. Greer’s Mind, Body, Spirit spread. It’s from Tarot For Yourself [aff] which is a book I recommend to all my students. It’s the first book I ever read other than the quintessential Eden Gray and Waite books.

AncestralPath_3cards001

Body is Empress. This makes me realize that I must be in charge of my physical self. I can’t give into cravings for sugar or other things that are bad for me. I can do it in moderation but only tiny amounts. My creative self is hampered when I hurt. I can’t sit to write or draw if I am in pain. The Empress reminds me to love myself most.

Mind is the Eight of Sacred Circles. I understand that I must continue to study and exercise my mind. By doing new things, I create new pathways in my brain. I should study as much as I teach and vice versa. This card, for me, represents the concept of apprentice, journeyman and master. Like any guild member, I must continue to educate myself. Consider how many professions insist on continuing education credits.

Spirit is the Nine of Staves. This young man is ready. He’s passionate about his work. He knows that a new day is dawning. He is ready to rise and meet it. My opening up to the day sets my spirit on the right path. I’m ready.

Do you do daily readings? Just a card each day perhaps? What is your goal when you do them? What is your message you are giving yourself?

As you may know, I do daily affirmations. I do them for me. It’s a very selfish thing, you see. I want to reorient my whole self to tackle the day with joy. It’s my mood refresher.

Today I will honor my body by making good choices. I will exercise my mind with studies that feed me. I will release my passionate spirit to seek joy today.

Your journal prompt for today is, “What does it mean to me to live a passionate life?”

Body, Mind, Spirit Coming Together

Today’s card is not one but three. Years ago when I first began studying the Tarot, I was told that I needed Mary K. Greer’s Tarot For Yourself [aff]. My teacher in the Craft told me that. And she was so right.

One of the lessons of that book is the Body, Mind, Spirit daily draw. MKG details how to do that so I won’t bore you here. I did the BMS draw daily for many years. Lately I’ve gotten away from that.

I felt like doing it this morning so I’m sharing it with you. Using the Medicine Woman Tarot (a recent gift from friends which is STILL making me smile), I drew the Fool (Seed), Lovers (Ecstasy) and the Three of Arrows.

MedicineWoman3001Body: Fool. I am reminded that seeds need time to grow. And seeds sometimes need to be replanted. The work I’m doing on my physical self is taking root. I need to keep being optimistic. Taking a chance on myself is worth it.

Mind: Lovers. I am reminded that I must love others as I love myself. When I slide into Negativeville about others, it invariable causes me to also become negative about myself. I do try to avoid negative people. At work, because of what I do, that’s impossible. I’m faced with negativity from customers as well as co-workers. I have to shed that from my mind. No bringing that home.

Spirit: Three of Arrows. Shot through the heart and you’re to blame. You give love a bad name. I just saw that a day or two ago on Twitter in reference to this card. It still makes me laugh. But the spirit of this card for my Spirit tells me that clear thinking can reconnect me. Spirit self is part of my mental focus. I just have to reknit the bones. (this makes sense to me.)

It’s hard to do a reading like this here. It’s a very personal spread.

Do you do a daily draw of any type? What do you want from it? Why do you do it?

My reasons are to have something to talk about here AND to give myself a bit of a push for the day.

Seek joy, y’all. Pass it on!

Vacation1, Mary K. Greer & Memories

I’m on vacation this week so I’m bringing up some old posts to share with you while I’m gone. I have been so blessed in my Tarot community to have the opportunity to interview some amazing people! Here is my interview with the amazing Mary K. Greer from 2008.

Recently I asked one of the leading ladies of Tarot if she would mind doing an interview with me. I had this idea of doing a contest in conjunction with her interview. To my surprise, she said yes. I panicked. I knew what the contest was going to be (read to the end for more on that), but oh dear!

Um,now what, Arwen? You asked one of your heroines if you could ask her some questions. They better be good!

Read the interview.

Pssst, that contest is 4 years old so it is OVER. 😀

Daily, Dignity & Dawn

My reason for doing this is my utter mind balk in yesterday’s Tarot Meetup about using a specific Tarot method.

I’ve decided to set myself a goal of doing daily readings for a period of thirty days. I may or may not post them here in my blog. Part of what I am going to work on is learning how Elemental Dignities come into play. This could mean that I will have multiple posts some days–oh the horror.

My reason for doing this is my utter mind balk Continue reading “Daily, Dignity & Dawn”

Learning The Tarot: A Book List

Learning the Tarot is not difficult if you are willing to synthesize the information. You can’t read one book and expect to know all there is. I’ve been reading since 1980 and still learn something new every time I pick up the cards. One way to learn is to read a lot of books. Here are a few that would be good for beginners and those looking to expand their skills. Continue reading “Learning The Tarot: A Book List”

Interview: James Ricklef

A Major 01 Mage c JWRJames Ricklef has been involved in Tarot for a very long time even if he modestly proclaims not to be one of our communities’ stars. I hope you will enjoy this fascinating chat with James.

Other Blogs: Aeclectic Tarot

AT is not a blog per se. Most people would call it a bulletin board if they are old like me or maybe a forum if they are more “with it.” I found AT in May of 2003 and never looked back. Can’t remember how I found it but I know it fit every thing I Continue reading “Other Blogs: Aeclectic Tarot”
