Death. The card of utter change in one's life. Total transformation. Giving up of old ways so you can make way for new. The ripping away of old skin so your new can shine forth.
The Death card in the Frank Fradella Adventure card is actually a very empowering card. We see a large, muscular man who is flesh and metal. There is light coming from inside of him and literally splitting him apart everywhere. The expression on his face is more determination than anything else.
He is being utterly transformed. His new being will be so different from his old that no one will recognize or know him. He will be dead to those that can not change with him. But that is not his focus. His focus at this moment in time is the pain it is causing him. He is determined to move through this change at hand in whatever way he can, but he also knows the pain that comes with change.
How does Death manifest itself in your life? When you are presented with sweeping changes... no, not presented... When you are forced into making sweeping changes in your life, how do you personally handle that? Do you lash out at those around you and channel your pain that way? Do you turn all of your pain inward and decessimate your own soul? Or do you work with that pain to make it your own and to channel it as best you can so neither yourself nor those around you are hurt?
Death is a card that may or may not have existed in earlier Tarot decks. Whether this was religiously motivated or patron motivated is unclear. But Death is back in the cards today.
How will you bring about change in your life? Are you letting change kill you? Take control and remember that Death is not permanent if you realize that we are always changing. The you that you were yesterday is dead. There is a new you today. You have changed since yesterday. And if you haven't changed in any way, then may I suggest that you examine your life? The life that does not change stagnates. And that is a worse death to me than anything else.
May your day bring you positive changes in your life.
