Fear.

Fear is such a funny beast, isn’t it? Causes us to do things we might not normally do like tear all our clothes off at a picnic because a bee flew in our sleeve. No I haven’t done that, but I have woken up approximately three counties worth of people with my screams at seeing a scorpion in my home.

Fear of not being enough can manifest, I think, as (more…)

When we last left our foolish Fool, he’d just met the very scary Death who told him to seek out “the one who balances.” Even though the Fool had more questions, Death had left him only telling him to stay on the path he was on.

So the Fool continued down the dusty road. He carried his little dog for a bit since he wasn’t sure that skeletal rider wouldn’t show back up. When the canine began to wiggle and whine, the Fool put him down on the ground. With a sigh, he adjusted his stick carrying his belongings wondering if he would ever find (more…)

Ahhh, I wondered when this card might show up. I really like this one for so many reasons. You see, this card is one I never really like in other decks. I instinctively mule-kick against what it traditionally represents. Joanna’s vision of this Major Arcana standard is very different from others. Even my primary reading deck shows this one in a fairly traditional manner. It seems to me that this particular card is the very antithesis of free-spirited living. So when I drew the (more…)

I’ve got so much to do today.  I’ve done my weekly Tarotscopes on Twitter. You can check them out every Sunday just by going to that link. No need to join the Dark Side even if we do have cookies!

I’m gearing up for my Austin Tarot Talkers Meetup at 2pm today. I have some notes on the suits and hope that will be enough. May dig some books out as well to share.

Today’s card came as a bit of a surprise to me. With all I have on my plate, I expected (more…)

Today’s card was the Tree which is Joanna’s version of the Hanged Man. This was an intriguing card for today since the traditional meaning of this card is time out/sacrifice/wait. I did not have any time to write about this card this morning which is why this post is late.

The Tree features a (more…)

Today’s card is a repeat of the Ace of Fire. I discussed this card here. So I am going to pull another card. I will use the Ace of Fire as my personal card and this next one as the modifier. I will often pull another card to see what modifies the energies of a card. Modifiers can enhance or subtract from the energy.

That modifier is (more…)

rws_foolThe Fool ran. He held on to his hat with both hands. No way was he losing his hat. That warning from the Hanged Man had been clear. He needed to hang on to his hat so he did. Then his pace slowed. His thoughts continued to race.

Death. He had to face Death next. How many had he come face-to-face with so far? The Fool counted on his fingers. Then he sat down to (more…)

rws_foolThe sun had dropped in the sky a bit before our Fool shook himself from his reverie. The motion set off a merry jingle of bells which caused his little white dog to pounce at his shoes while barking. He laughed then began to dance a bit so his dog had to run to try to catch the tassels on his shoes.

“Hurry, little friend. Justice told me there would be a man in a tree next. I wonder if he will have a tree house.” The Fool mused as he struck off on the left-hand path. The dog ran quickly after him grabbing at his heel and growling. (more…)

Hermit Rider-Waite-Smith

Hermit (Rider-Waite-Smith)

I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with the Hermit. I see him in so many different ways. He is Luke’s mentor as Obi-Wan Kenobi. He is the bane of my existence reminding me of the Charge of the Goddess. He is the guardian at the gate of all I seek and all I fear.

Sometimes, I see this card and can feel my inner (more…)

rws_foolThis is the next installment of my Fool’s Journey. I am simply writing the story as I think it might happen for this eternal wanderer of the Tarot. I hope you enjoy. You can read from the beginning by skipping to the end of this post.

With his dog yipping at his heels, the Fool left the strange scene of the ever-turning Wheel behind him. He flipped a bit of cheese to his dog as they continued down the road. For a moment the Fool had wondered if he should go back, but then he shrugged. (more…)
