Kittens, Competition & Ethics

That other is reaching up to engage, but what about the third kitten who is looking up? He or she looks scared to me.

Today’s card reminds me that taking a leap shouldn’t be done at the expense of those around me. Traditionally this card is about competition–particularly the type that pits us against others. It’s pretty natural in our species (and others) to want to be at the top of the pack, right?

Here we see one kitten taking a flying leap to pounce on another. That other is reaching up to engage, but what about the third kitten who is looking up? He or she looks scared to me.

I have to remember that as I try to get to the top of my game in my field (Tarot and writing) that I can’t forget about others. For me to be an ethical business owner, I have to not try to smash others. I truly believe that living in abundance means there is enough for everyone.

So I won’t leap without looking if there are others involved. I won’t hold back from leaping, but I will try to mind where my feet land. It’s hard enough to be a small business owner without injuring those who are also trying to make a living, yes?

If you are in competition with others, ask yourself this question. Is what I am doing positive and empowering of myself without putting others down (even subtly)? Can I promote me without tearing someone else down.

Most political campaigners are incapable of doing this. My task that I have set for myself is to be better than that.

Seek joy, y’all! Pass it on!
