Chatting With Bonnie Cehovet

Bonnie CehovetI had the chance to interview Bonnie about her new book, Tarot Birth Cards And You, as well as life in general.  Leave a question or comment for Bonnie to be entered to win a copy of her new book, Tarot Birth Cards and You.

Did I mention Bonnie has a new book? Okay! I’ll stop!

Arwen Your book highlights a threefold process for working with the birth cards. What inspired you to develop this approach?

Bonnie I never really thought of this as a process. What I wanted to do was to show different ways in which Birth Cards could be recognized and accessed. Using affirmations and journeying are two tools of empowerment that I have worked with for many years, and they fit in here nicely. Anyone can work with them, no matter what their background or level of understanding of the Tarot. The basic thought here was to show individuals the energy that governed their current lifetime, and to help them make best use of it.

Arwen You emphasize journeying. What is a journey experience that you can share with us from your own birth card combination?

Bonnie One of the most difficult journeys that I ever undertook was the first time that I walked with the Hermit in Ellen Lorenzi Prince’s “Tarot of the Crone”. At the time, I was most uncomfortable with the Hermit being a female. This was, for whatever reason, a very scary thing for me. I journeyed on a New Moon, and I called in my Higher Self, my Guides, a few Archangels and a couple of other energies that I felt necessary. That room was packed, let me tell you! My friends thought it was hysterical! I mean … talk about overkill! Needless to say, the journey went very well, and I received the information that I was supposed to receive. And I no longer have difficulty with female Hermit’s! 😉

Arwen What is a book on Tarot that you would recommend to someone just starting out?

Bonnie I am very old school here. There are two books that I continue to recommend, as they are ones that I started out with: Mary K. Greer’s “Tarot For Yourself”, and Rachel Pollack’s “78 Degrees of Wisdom”.

Arwen As a writer, I know some are noise on and others are noise off. Which are you?

Bonnie I love music, so … noise on! Go Commodores!

Arwen What has been your greatest joy about this launch of your book?

Bonnie Literally, that it launched! I made it through the process, and Schiffer gifted me with quite a visually appealing book, that I am very proud to have people read and work with.

Arwen What surprised you the most about writing this book?

Bonnie That everything fell into place so nicely!

Arwen Who is a personal inspiration for you in the Tarot world?

Bonnie There are many people that inspire me. James Wanless, and his ability to make Tarot fun while gifting his students with great wisdom. Lon Milo DuQuette, for his sense of humor and style. Ruth Ann and Wald Amberstone, for making the Tarot accessible. Mary Greer and Rachel Pollack, for their prolific work, and Beth Owl’s Daughter, for being the wonderful, caring person that she is.

Arwen What is one piece of advice you would offer someone who wanted to write their own book?

Bonnie Don’t be afraid. You have something to say … sit down and say it!

Arwen What does the future look like from your side of the computer?

Bonnie The future is an open book, waiting to be written. We will each have our own version of the future, depending on where our comfort zones are. Dream the big dream, put focus and intent behind your big dream, and your future will be bigger and brighter than you ever thought!
